Unnithandu upperi

Unni thandu is a by-product of plantain .Its a rod like portion which is inside the trunk of plantain tree.This is highly nutritous, rich in fibre.

Items reqd:
Unnithand-a palm sized piece
mustard-little
cooking Oil-little
Rice powder-4-tbsp
Pepper powder-little
Preparation method:
  1. Cut the unnithand, in such a way that the naaru/fibre are removed as much as possible
  2. Splutter the mustard, and put the cut unnithand into the pan.
  3. Add little water and a pinch of turmeric powder, and salt as reqd.
  4. Once the Unnithandu is cooked, add pepper powder and ari podi( rice powder) and mix well...

Excellent and highly nutrious dish is ready..
